Co-founder, Scientific Director and CEO, Dr. Franck Zal has built his scientific reputation on his expertise in the field of marine invertebrate respiratory pigments. Dr. Zal founded Hemarina in 2007 after 15 years of fundamental research at the CNRS. He is the author of several dozen international patents, more than 100 publications and has given over 100 presentations at scientific conferences. He is currently President of Biotech Santé Bretagne, a member of the Supervisory Board of Inserm Transfert and Vice-President Regenerative medicine of Atlanpôle Biothérapies board. Franck holds a PhD in Oceanography (Pierre-et-Marie Curie University, Sorbonne University) completed three years of post-doctoral studies at the University of Santa Barbara in California (UCSB) and then at the University of Antwerp in Belgium. He received also an Executive MBA (2014, Rennes School of Business).
